Reach Rescue in Swimming

We have been practicing how to do a reach rescue. You have to have one buddy and one person goes into the pool and the other person goes and gets a pool noodle. 
The person that is in the pool goes to the edge of the pool and get on your knees. Your buddy that is in the pool has to signal for help. The person that has got the pool noodle throws that into the pool like your throwing a fishing line into catch a fish but you have to hold the end of the pool noodle. Then pull it in like you have got a big fish. 
Once your buddy gets closer to the edge let go of the pool noodle and grab your buddy´s hand and pull there hand until they are holding the edge of the pool. You have to put one hand on your buddies hand and your other hand goes on their shoulder. 
Don´t let go in tell your buddy has pulled them self up out of the pool safely! Here is a picture of our class practicing!

Swimming ports

Last Tuesday on the 26 of March, 2 people from each class went to swimming sports. We walked to the splash and my mum came to walk with me and watch me. 

When we got there I was like OMG because there were a lot of parents and school's. We walked to our seats and sat down waiting for the man to call each event. My first event was 16th and when they called the 8 year old girls up, that was Maiah and Casssidy. They were so nervous and I knew my event was getting closer. 

When the 2 girls finished their race they called the 9 year old girls up. I was scared because my first event was backstroke. I think I did really well and I had a good time!

Cross Country

Hi i´m Liriyah i´m 9 years old. 
On Tuesday the whole School went to Rutherford to do cross country. First the whole school had to practice around the block until cross country got closer an closer. Rutherford track is twice as long as Carlton School´s block. 

When the race was about to start, Miss Nation clapped these clapping things. Miss Nation tricked us a few times. Then she clapped the things all the 9 year old girls ran. I was coming 4th at first, then all of they started slowing down so I passed them. I came first! I felt so happy that I came first. My friend Madison came second place and my friend Willow came third place, my friend Maiah came fourth place. 

Me Madison,Willow and Maiah are going to interschool cross country at Aranui school. I´m nervous and exited at the same time I´m more nervous. I bet you that everyone that is going is nervous. I am just so happy that I did well in cross country, I am proud of myself.

Steps to make a growth mind set poster

1. First you go on google and find a quote that you like.

2. Then you have to practice the poster in your art book.

3. Then you have to copy and do it on a piece of paper.

4.Then once you have done that you water colour or you can colour with pencils.


5. Once you have did water colour or coloured, then you have to let it dry

7. Once it is dry you go over your words with sharpie.

8. Then you are done.

This will remind me to have a growth mindset this year!
